has anyone ever dealt with online harassment or privacy issues? i was a retard on the internet and attracted the attention of some random group of people that started harassing me on sites i used to like. i got email accounts hacked into and embarrassing information about me leaked.
i genuinely think of killing myself due to how much this has frustrated me over the past year. the internet used to be a sense of comfort for me and now ive become this target by random people and i just want it to fucking stop. i don't know why the fuck they can't leave me alone. i wish i was smarter. why are people like this? i don't know what the fuck to do.

also, if you stalk/harass people, fuck you. i genuinely can't think of anything more degenerate and i wish i could personally bring the plague to people who harass others for extended lengths of time. fuck. you.

Change all your personal details if you can. Be very careful about giving out private info and who you surround yourself with. Most people generally suck ass and you should ALWAYS assume the worst in people even if they show you their best.

If you surround yourself with toxic normies who post all their info about themselves online then that's on you.

I don't use social media and I don't create an "identity on it". I have a couple of websites and a couple forums I browse and that's it. I also only use secure FOSS apps.

I don't make "online friends." I filter people hard in real life. I have IRL hobbies and I get rejected a lot, but I'm searching for high quality people who don't use the internet for drama or their persona.

It's a fucked up world and I wish less people used the internet in the way they used it, but monkeys going to monkey.

If you have money, you can hire people to scrub your presence. It worked for a lot of girls who had revenge porn leaks.

gotta cut your losses short mate, just delete/close your accounts on the platforms that allow it
backup all your emails locally and open new mail adresses that are in no way connected to the old ones, with new passwords ect (never use the same password twice, a password manager makes this easy)

it would be best never to open the platforms where you got doxxed because the stalkers could recognize you, just move on and make new friends somewhere else
NEVER EVER give your name or private details on the inernet
best of luck

few years ago i helped this girl write her thesis, and she told me how she got stalked by this random guy who found where she worked and called her workplace
when she sent me pieces of the thesis for me to correct, it had her name in the metadata (courtesy of OS X)
i tried to explain how silly that was but some retards will never change

I have. In my case I was able to disappear and not be found because I have a decent understanding of OPSEC. But I had people who wanted to ruin me and I had abandon my online identity.

The most frustrating part is after you recover, you're changed forever and never able to do the same things again, and people act like you're crazy and paranoid, like you imagined the danger. And you have to resist telling them about it because talking about it is never a good idea.

It sucks ass, but you'll be okay.
